Mamelodi Partners

Listed Below are some of the existing partnerships we have established in the Mamelodi area.  Through them we are continuously able to reach out to additional organizations and individuals, thus we will be adding more organizations to this list frequently.

Berakah Foundation

In Mamelodi East there is an informal settlement that is home to over 250,000 inhabitants.  The community suffers from an unemployment rate of 89%, high illiteracy, increasing crime rate, and children suffering the affects of HIV/AIDS.  The Berakah Children’s Foundation was founded in 1996 to empower, employ and equip these residents.  Berakah is community driven.  When there is a need for literacy training, they are there teaching in the front yard of one of their volunteer’s houses.  When there is a need for entrepreneurial training and small business enterprises, they are there- farming, soap making, selling coal and beading.  With the increase of HIV/AIDS, they are there doing home-based care and reaching out to the OVCs (other vulnerable children).  Advocacy takes the form of working with the local social worker and the principals and teachers.

Mahlasedi Masana Primary School
& Meetse-A-Bophelo Primary School

Meetse A Bophelo School is committed to providing quality public education to its learners, parents and the community at large. As a school, it strives to provide education that is learner centered and based on sound values that will always recognize the uniqueness of all its customers.  To address overcrowding at the school about a kilometer from the school a well developed school was built called Mahlasedi Masana and some of the learners were moved into the new building.

“We believe that as a school we will entrench the principles of UBUNTU that will equip all our customers with a basis for being critical, responsible, accountable, initiative, honest and unique beings who will always strive for excellence in all their adventures and challenges. Hoping that this will contribute positively towards molding and building citizens that will enormously towards building a South Africa that is dynamic, free and democratic at all times.”
